MASTERING SOFT TISSUE SURGERY, 2021

Athens

The keys for a predictable and successful outcome in periodontal and implant surgery

EDUCATORS

Rino Burkhardt | George Goumenos | Giovanni Zucchelli | Giulio Rasperini | Otto Zuhr | Michael Stimmelmayr | Egon Euwe

The aim of these seminars is to provide knowledge on the appropriate surgical management of oral soft tissues. The trainees gain a solid foundation of knowledge on the biology of healing and receive comprehensive training in the basic surgical principles and surgical techniques, along with the required equipment and materials used.

The seminars aim to render the application of surgical techniques in everyday dentistry more user-friendly and help dentists achieve more predictable and effective results. Soft tissue  surgery is presented in three 2-day seminars. Each seminar includes lectures, video presentations, hands-on demonstration on the jaw bone of a pig and attendance of live surgery sessions

MODULE II

SOFT TISSUE QUANTITY AND QUALITY ENHANCEMENT AROUND TEETH AND IMPLANTS: Surgical techniques to augment the zone of keratinized soft tissue.

Discusses the importance of an increased zone of keratinized tissue to achieve a stable postoperative outcome from both an aesthetic and a functional perspective. The aim of this seminar is to train the participants in the atraumatic handling of periodontal tissues and peri-implant mucosa, analyzing the most popular surgical techniques (e.g. connective tissue graft, free gingival graft and their substitutes) to increase the amount of keratinized soft tissue.

MODULE III

POSTEXTRACTION SOCKET MANAGEMENT FOR PREDICTABLE AESTHETIC RESTORATIONS AROUND TEETH AND IMPLANTS

The latest views on the surgical modeling of pontics and the ideal timing for implant placement” focuses on soft tissue handling in post-extraction sockets in conventional prosthetics and implant therapy, during both immediate and early implant placement. It analyzes the significance of preserving the dimensions of post-extraction sockets and explains the reasoning behind using a xenograft and sealing the post-extraction socket orifice for this purpose (socket seal). The following surgical techniques for socket sealing are presented to the participants: soft tissue xenograft, free gingival graft (punch) and palatal pedicle flap.

MODULE IV

MANAGEMENT OF DENTAL IMPLANT FAILURES AND COMPLICATIONS IN THE AESTHETIC ZONE.

Is taking into consideration the particularity of treatment planning of implants in the aesthetic zone and the risks resulting from improper application and insufficient assessment of predisposing factors. More specifically, the seminar outlines the main aesthetic issues and their causes, proposes ways of avoiding them and analyzes the methodology for assessing problematic implants and deciding whether to treat or extract them. Moreover, it describes how they can be removed and how to manage the area of defect using a bone graft, membrane, and applying an epithelialized connective tissue graft.
